Surgery
We are equipped to carry out general and orthopedic surgery
Intensive care
Equipment such as oxygen administration, IV fluid therapy pumps, blood transfusions, ventilation and pathology allows us to perform medical and surgical procedures at a high level
General anaesthetics
Most of our anaesthetics involve the use of isoflurane vapourizers, the latest and safest in veterinary anaesthetics. Our patients wake up quickly, maximizing safety and allowing them to return home on the same day.
Pain relief and antibiotics, if necessary, are given to all patients post operatively.
Anaesthetics are monitored by a qualified veterinary nurse with the assistance of respiratory, pulse and oxygen monitors.
Dentistry
We have an ultrasonic scaler which allows us to remove the built up tartar off our pet’s teeth. This in turn promotes an improvement in gum and teeth cleanliness. We also extract diseased and broken teeth and advise on diet and environmental management of oral hygiene.
Radiography
We have a purpose built x-ray room that houses a mobile x-ray machine We then develop all films on site to ensure the fastest possible diagnosis and treatment.
Ultrasound
Our ultrasound has become an extra diagnostic tool in both small and large animals
Desexing
We recommend that cats and dogs both, male and female, get sterilized at 4-6 months of age.
We do not discount speys as we believe that we cannot maintain our high standard of care, especially using our safe anaesthetic gases.
All sterilized patients are given a pre-medication (which contain pain killers) prior to surgery, followed by pain relief post operatively which will give pain relief for 24 hours.
Microchipping
We have been instrumental in returning many stray dogs to their loving homes after scanning them for a microchip- especially after thunderstorms or fireworks.
Euthanasia & Cremation
A sad fact of pet ownership is that, when you take a pet into your home, you are likely to have to cope with the death of your pet. Their lifespan is just not as long as ours. Sometimes, owners will need to decide on the time for their pets euthanasia.
In the event of a pet's death, we are able to organise cremation and/or the return of your pet's ashes, if you wish.
Pathology
We do many blood and urine tests in house but the majority of our tests are performed in Perth. The company that we use, usually, returns the results to us in 24hours
.
Pet Products
Worm tablets, flea control, dog and cat shampoos, arthritis treatment, premium and prescription foods, toys and training aids are all supplied with sound advice from our friendly trained team.
Canine training
We offer three levels of training at Albany Veterinary Hospital.
Puppy Pre-school is a must for any owner wanting a well behaved, sociable companion. These classes are designed for puppies between the ages of 8-16 weeks and provide early socialisation, training and owner awareness of all things 'puppy'.
We also have a Good Manners class which is offered as a small group or one-on-one training sessions. This class offers refined obedience training techniques.
And finally, we have our Behavioural Consultation. This is when you have a specific behavioural problem that you need some help to resolve. It is one-on-one with our trainer. We impower owners with the skills to identify the triggers for inappropriate behaviour and design a Behavioural Modification Plan(BMP) to suit.
Clinic Run
On the first Wednesday of each month we do a 'run' to out lying areas to assist in the veterinary care of your pet's. We start in Gnowangerup, then Ongerup, Jerramungup and finish in Borden , before returning home. If you would like an appointment, please contact the office, in Albany. |
